Experimenting with Whimsical Winter Salads

If you’re snowed in or otherwise avoiding that slippery trip down the driveway, it becomes pretty tempting to stay in the house, similarly sticking to your usual repertoire of time-tested wintry recipes. Comfort food, while not always healthy, helps us all get through the season. But, this time is best spent experimenting new tastes and combinations using Massel!
Winter salads are perfect for this purpose. They are easy to customize if you’re gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan or anything else, and they take advantage of less common fruits and vegetables that you might have forgotten about during your yearly hibernation.
Some of our favorite bites include…
- Radishes: A super satisfying crunch, plus we bet you didn’t know they’re a great source of Vitmain C!
- Pears: They pair excellently with nearly any vinaigrette, but we like them best with goat cheese. Try throwing pears on top of our Zucchini & Goat Cheese Salad.
- Quinoa: A fantastic base if you want to veer away from greens. This grain has an even bigger flavor when prepared with any flavor of our Concentrated Liquid Stock; check out this recipe for some inspiration.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! We are 100% in love with Beard + Bonnet’s Vegan Taco Salad, the foundation for any heavenly spread. These kinds of warm and savory salads—whether or not you use meat—really shine with our All Purpose Seasoning Granules. Just sprinkle over your favorite ingredients, or throw it into your homemade dressing to drizzle on top! Our stomachs are already rumbling imagining the possibilities.
While we wait for the ice to thaw to get our gardens back up and running, try some unconventional combinations this winter and keep the magic alive in your kitchen! Salads are truly perfect for any time of year.
