Egg Foo Young
You can make this quick and delicious Egg Foo Young, before you can have it delivered to your home. Pick your own protein (pork, prawns, etc.) or go with only vegetables. Bean sprouts, green onions and peas are the usually ingredients, but if you want to add broccoli, cauliflower and/or carrots, go ahead. Make it your own! It is also a great vehicle for leftover vegetables. Massel gravy makes a great sauce over the egg foo young without the guilt and it is ready under 5 minutes. Serve up with your favourite rice.
Ingredients
- Massel Traditional Gravy Powder
- Massel Chicken Style Stock Powder
- Bean sprouts
- Fresh or thawed peas
- Green onions, finely chopped
- Protein of choice: cooked pork, cooked chicken, tofu or shrimp
- Canola or vegetable oil for frying
- Soy sauce
- Hot sauce for serving, optional
Method
In a bowl, add vegetables and protein of choice. Fistful of vegetable per pancake.
In a separate bowl, beat eggs. One per egg foo young pancake.
Mix vegetables and beaten eggs together and season with Massel Chicken Style Stock Powder
In a fry pan, heat up oil (about 2 inches deep) for frying egg foo young pancake.
When you drop a tiny bit of vegetable in oil and it bubbles and browns, you will know that it is at the correct temperature for frying.
Scoop a pancake into the hot oil.
After the underside of the pancake is golden brown, flip and brown the other side.
When browned, drain on paper towels.
Make Massel Traditional Gravy Powder as directions on package. Add 1 teaspoon of soy sauce per cup of gravy made.
Serve Egg Foo Young with rice and then cover with gravy. Serve with hot sauce, if you prefer.
